Shoreline
Public art sketch for The culture administration in Region Stockholm
The entry of the new care building at Danderyd Hospital opens up in the direction of the bay. A walk along the shoreline gives an opportunity to recover and heal. This is the idea I wanted to bring into the care facility.
The artwork Strandlinje is based on the paper-map image of Mörbyviken and the sharp line that separates water and land on the paper. The shoreline has been cut out and fragments of the paper map have been placed along the corridor. On the walls the large coloured sheets with its folds and shadows turns into abstract landscapes.
A walk along the corridor turns into a hiking along the shoreline - where a step corresponds to 50 steps along the actual edge of the water.
Around the middle part of the corridors is the walking path marked out with dashed lines just like on the map. Occasional lines pops out from the wall and around a corner, eager to continue the healing walk.
